the origin of this verse is that someone once asked me where i live.
when i said "Wugu",
she told me: "你的發音不標準,你應該說: 'ㄊㄧㄢ ㄇㄨ' 。"

Hah, nice poem.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's cool, the verse is interesting, it somehow describes the situation some foreigners would meet in Taiwan. But, I guess, it maybe just a stereotype thought by a few Taiwanese people.
ReplyDeletePS: I knew this blog from Wei-tien.
Ivy, the museum guide
My Taiwanese student sent me a link to this poem today. I don't think I've ever gotten so much enjoyment out of a Chinese poem written by a foreigner! I like 霽月 as well.
ReplyDeleteyou're too kind;
ReplyDeleteand too flattering calling it a "poem,"
shame, but if "light verse" is what the muse is sending lately,
"light verse" is what i mostly write
