I was. The "Romanized name" has no obvious connection with the Chinese (Yang Ming-hui in Mandarin), so I caught up with the bus at the next red light and asked "Why Ka Jao?"

After I explained "No, I'm not trying to get to BanQiao", he told me it was his Aboriginal name. Amis to be precise.
