new verse

Interesting, arty, dark-skinned women
hang out in laundromats,
in the movies.

In the movies,
childhood is innocent.
In the movies,
everyone used to smoke
but now no one smokes.
In the movies,
people seldom ride bicycles
and if they do it never rains,
they only go to museums to fall in love,
and they never pay their electricity and gas bills.
Love lasts for ever in the movies.

In the movies,
everyone has white teeth,
everyone drinks Coke or Pepsi,
and dogs and cats never die.
In the movies,
divorcees get along amicably with their ex-partners.
In the movies,
money rarely changes hands,
but if it does, it is in bagfuls of banknotes.
There are few Welsh people in movies.

In the movies,
no one masturbates except in comedies where they're caught by their mothers.
In the movies,
men always have wives or girlfriends if they want them,
and men's wives and girlfriends always have big breasts.
In the movies,
no one dies of cancer, old age or suicide.
People laugh a lot in movies.

In the movies,
no one writes bad poetry,
and if they do, they certainly don't recite it.
In the movies,
people do not have meaningless conversations on their cell phones,
and they do not do the washing-up unless they Do The Washing-Up.
In the movies,
if people go to the movies,
someone in the movie will often come out and talk to them.
Everything is possible in movies.

In the movies,
people called Mark have boring jobs and boring lives.
In the movies,
everyone has read Hemingway and Austen and Dostoevsky,
but no one picks up a book.
In the movies,
right triumphs over wrong.

The beginning is the end in the movies.

  1. interesting pic with the poem!
Is it the booklist you recommend for people out of the movie?
    And why clothes in front?

  2. Well, here in Taiwan we like to say: 「人生如戲,戲如人生」. Sometimes, the line between a movie and real life is blurred.
